    More: Damian was a journalist and commentator who championed the “unsung heroes” of tennis on the Challenger Tour. He will be greatly missed by all, and even moreso the people who were lucky enough to know him and work with him. One of those people is John Silk, who writes about Damian beautifully here.

Much-loved member of the tennis community Damian Kust has passed away after a short illness. It is difficult to describe the pain I am currently feeling but I will do my best to highlight just why he meant so much to me, and to so many others, as the outpouring of tributes on social media has shown.

On Monday Match Analysis Gill runs through the first championship Sunday of 2026. We'll start with Alexander Bublik's milestone win over Lorenzo Musetti that secured his place in the top-10. Then, we'll go to Daniil Medvedev's dominant week and win over Brandon Nakashima in Brisbane. Lastly, Hubert Hurkacz was perhaps the biggest mover of week 1 with a strong United Cup, culminating in victory over Stan Wawrinka and glory for Poland.
